Born in Kansas City Maria Bilyeu has been improvising since age ten. She began her playing career on piano and took up cello at age twelve. Classically trained on cello, she is a former member of the University of Rhode Island Honors String Quartet and winner of the Concerto Competition. Maria uses that training to conjure up new and transcendent improvisational adventures on cello. On piano, Maria lends lyric and melody to her emotions creating soulful and heartwarming songs that inspire and often heal.
